Tyler Richards has been serving as the City Manager of Texarkana, Arkansas, since 2024. Prior to stepping into this role, he dedicated several years to the city as the Public Works Director, a position he has held since January 2018. With nearly a decade of experience in government service, Tyler's career path was initially driven by his passion for civil engineering and problem-solving, although he always envisioned working in the private sector as a civil engineer.

A licensed professional engineer, Tyler earned his bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from The University of Texas–Tyler. His interest in his father’s career as a carpenter, combined with his love for tackling complex challenges, motivated him to pursue a career in civil engineering and construction. After college, Tyler returned to his hometown of Texarkana and started his career with CLB Engineers. As a project engineer, he contributed to a wide variety of projects, including municipal infrastructure and private industrial facilities.

After nearly five years with CLB Engineers, Tyler accepted the role of Public Works Director to serve the community that has shaped his life. Six years later, he was honored to be asked to serve as the City Manager.

Tyler’s deep love for Texarkana and its residents led him to accept the position of City Manager. He is proud to be entrusted with serving the citizens, managing the city’s operations, and fostering economic development to grow Texarkana into an even better community. In his role, he actively collaborates with organizations such as AR-TX REDI and the Texarkana Metropolitan Planning Organization to promote growth and development.

Tyler and his wife, Brittany, are proud parents to three children: Tucker (7), Riley (5), and Jenna-Kate (1). “Jesus Christ and my family are everything to me,” Tyler shares. “Without them, I wouldn’t be here today, ready to serve the Texarkana community.”
